"AMC Networks filed an immense trove of emails from fired 'Walking Dead' executive producer Frank Darabont on Thursday. They give a rare behind-the-scenes look at the tensions that go into a prestige cable show. Darabont has said the tone and the 'hyperbole' were the result of a crisis on the show, and that he stands by the substance of the emails 'to the last detail.'”

This is AMC attempting to engage in some well-poisoning. None of this material is even relevant to the ongoing litigation. But it is interesting.

Are they allowed to release private emails for everyone to read?

So was Darabont fired before they started making Season 2? Or during Season 2? Because that's the season that seemed to have the most problems.

He was fired early in the production of season 2.

That explains it. I remember the 1st episode of season 2 being great. Then it suddenly all became really dull.

Darabont will get no love from me as long as he continues to hold the rights to The Long Walk and not just make the damned movie already.

So they canned him yet kept the drivel-team of Hurd and Gimple?
Lol

Yeah he needs to do so. That's one of my favorite stories along with Rage under Bachman and I long to see it on the big screen

I really liked Rage. I'd like them to turn that into a film.

"Rage" will never be turned into a film. King regrets that it was even published, though it's one of the best things he's ever written. Unfortunately, it would be almost impossible to make "The Long Walk" as a movie; you couldn't properly visualize it.

Balderdash. They didn't break into his office, pry open his desk and steal the manuscript. If they got the manuscript in hand to even consider publishing, it's because he submitted it to them.
Well, there are professional movie makers out there who make good money figuring out how to properly visualize ideas. Darabont procured the rights for a reason - maybe it was to prevent anyone else from ever producing it because he thought it was evil. Or maybe, it's because he wants to make it, once he figures out how it could be done.
He worked on King's The Stand, which had its own visualization challenges. He was probably as disappointed as I was in the direction the story took, and wanted to revisit/revision/revisualize the idea through The Walking Dead.
He worked on The Mist, another challenging King idea. And The Shawshank Redemption. And The Green Mile. All King's work. Darabont is the foremost visionary for King's work. If anyone can figure it out, he can.
I just wish he'd hurry up and do it.
Actually, hmm...you've got me thinking, you might be right! If, with all Darabont's experience on King material, he's not yet pulled the trigger on doing The Long Walk, maybe it is indeed because it's so hard to visualize even he's drawing at straws.
If so, that'd really suck!
