Discuss The Walking Dead

TWD is over, Fear delayed until June, GoT delayed until July.

Any other good Sunday night shows to fill the next couple months?

The Walking Dead is almost ideal Sunday night viewing for me. But Fear the Walking Dead really ain't too hot. As to your question, I don't know what to tell you.

I've been binge watching Homeland. It's a damn good show.

That show lost me back in season 3. Too much Brody family drama and other assorted BS. Did it get better after that? If it did, maybe I'll give it another shot.

As for Sunday nights, I like Into the Badlands a lot. It would be nice to have a companion show and make a full evening of it though. I figured they'd put The Son on at 9 after TWD ended. Then swap in FTWD after the season finale of Badlands.

I got tired of those previews of Into the Badlands. It didn't even look apealing to me.

Watch the first episode or two of season 1. If you're not intrigued by then, it's not the show for you. I ignore those stupid teaser clips. If you've seen Better Call Saul then you know the show itself is a whole lot better than the trailers make it seem.

Is the story for Into the Badlands have (subsatance) behind all those fight scenes or is it just mostly a show about cool looking action?

Here's what you learn in the first episode, mostly in the opening minutes: the show is set somewhere between a few hundred and a few thousand years after some kind of devastating wars. It's hard to tell, and they really don't know what the current year is by our calendar. Certain elements of technology have survived. Electricity, cars, stuff like that. No computers or aircraft though. Cars seem to be a cottage industry. They're assembled one at a time and cost a fortune. For some reason they've outlawed guns, punishable by death, although it's been so long since a person's been caught with one there may be no one left who knows how to make them. This area called the badlands, which doesn't look all that bad, is ruled over by a group of landowners called barons. The majority of the people living under their "protection" are basically serfs working the land.

There's a fair number of Hong Kong style fight sequences. But there's also a lot going on. Things are more complicated than they seem at first and so are the characters. I won't spoil any specifics, but your first impression of who the good guys and bad guys are won't necessarily be accurate. Like I said, you should watch at least the first episode. If you don't like the show's style you probably won't warm up to it because that's the one thing that doesn't change much.

No I'm not interested but thanks for describing it for me. Take care.

This is why TWD is still succeeding...because in spite of all the complaining (including mine!) the minute it is gone we start going through withdrawals! :) #imwithyou
