Well a bunch of them probably smelled like a garbage heap, so there's that!!! Shiva has been around Rick and the others before so I bet she could smell the difference of the people!

That's a point. Cats have a far more acute nose than we do. The garbage people would smell like rotting trash, while the Saviors all carry the industrial odor of the Sanctuary.
