Eugene was in such need of validation, and the feeling of importance, that when Negan gave him responsibilities and a certain amount of authority, Eugene got totally sucked in.
When someone (Sasha?) wakes him up to the fact that Negan is a totally, thoroughly despicable creature who, incidentally, killed Eugene's friend Abraham, Eugene will have an epiphany and kill Negan.

Yes, he will take him with his patent dick biting move. Blood will spurt everywhere. It will be glorious.

Well, when it comes to sex, I've been called a biter before.

Eugene was there and witnessed that whole event. I don't think there is any "waking up to the fact" that needs to take place in this regard.

poit -- I believe Eugene suppressed that memory because it was too awful to absorb. How else could he align himself with such a monster? He's in a self-induced fog right now.
To all -- this is speculation and may or may not come to pass. But TV writers love twists and they like to have the least likely characters do the dirty deeds. We'll have to see whether I'm correct or not.

I don't look at Eugene's behavior as actually aligning himself with Negan. He is just saying what he has to in order to remain a valuable asset in Negan's eye. This is almost the exact behavior that got Abraham to transport him toward Washington, D.C. - by lying about his experience and credentials to receive protection from a capable leader/fighter.

I can't see that happening but maybe Eugene does have a plan and is not just been a coward?

That's what I suspect. That Eugene has totally bought into the Saviors but then will come across some moment of truth where he will have to side with Negan or his friends and in a climatic twist, he'll betray Negan at the last moment and be the hero of the day.

Eugene is surviving. He is doing fine where he is. If he gets the chance to get away cleanly from the Saviors and rejoin Rick's group without fear of repercussion, I think he would do it. He will adapt to whatever situation he finds himself in, but if he has his choice he will choose Alexandria.

Don't forget the two capsules of poison he made. He did not give them to the women but he did not toss them away either. So yes, he could be playing a long game and waiting till Negan drops his guard and then he'll slip him the poison.

I'm not really sure what you mean by that. Are you saying that he's neutral and waiting to see who prevails and then jump on that ship?

It means he is waiting for an opportunity to revenge Abraham.

Ah, I see. I disagree there. Eugene isn't a hero, a victor, someone who holds the virtues of honor and valor. He's no Thomas Jefferson, who will do what is right, regardless of the consequences. You're not going to hear Eugene saying, "give me death or give me liberty." You'd hear Abe Ford say that, because Abraham had valor and virtue. But Eugene is the exact opposite of that. He will do what is best for him.
I don't know why people think Eugene actually has the courage or balls to go against the grain. He has consistently shown that he picks the path of least resistance. So why would he betray Negan, when it's Negan who is protecting him, feeding him, clothing him, and sheltering him with one of the better suites? You know that, even though you're in denial right now about it. You want to believe Eugene has virtue. But you know deep down inside, he's got a good thing going and he won't mess that up.
That said, this is a TV show, and the writers will write their characters in the way that will provide the most theatrics and drama. So my prediction is, Eugene will be caught in the crossroads where he will have to pick a side. It will be a climatic scene where he will be making his signature crying face with the squinty eyes and mouth half open, looking at Rick as he is getting lightning blasted by the finger tips of Negan who will have the crazy eyes thing going. Eventually, Eugene's "soul" will come through and he will pick Negan up and toss him over the side into the pit of the walkers who will mysteriously be free from their shackles and eat Negan alive. Thus making us viewers think that it was Eugene's plan all along to betray Negan, and not that spur of the moment decision as the climax was brought up for us to think.

Eugene is loyal to Eugene. Once the jig was up about D.C. he admitted to convincing Abraham to take him there, and then later Rick and Company, because he needed protection not because he was part of a secret think tank working on a cure! He then added something to the effect of "I figured things had to be better in D.C. so I was doing you a solid." He hitches his wagon to whomever gives him the best chance of surviving. He is sociopathic. If the Saviors start falling apart then he'll work it out so it seemed he was "playing along" just to stay alive and never really a Negan. Yet his loudspeaker command to get him more "fresh" walkers since there were "plenty of people still out there" cannot be ignored. Both Sasha and Rosita heard that so his complicity in cold blooded murder will condemn him (assuming one of the two survive).

Maybe he'll pull the old Dread Pirate Roberts trick; build up an immunity to his own poison, then posion two drinks and offer one to Negan. When he gets suspicious and insists that Eugene switch drinks with him, Eugene downs his and Negan figures it's safe. Surprise!
