No I don't mean talking zombie! How about one that has more sence then a ameba. a walker that won't walk into fire, that can climb a ladder or open a door knob and lead other walkers.

Not really. A major part of the show is the realization that managing life with the threat of the living dead is entirely manageable, it's the threat of the living that is most difficult and worrisome.
Personally, I think it's long past time that the show break entirely from the comic. There's no need for it to continually follow the path that has been outlined, especially since doing so means hindering action and pace in order to not get too far ahead. I'd like to see some major militias pop up, and perhaps the group finds themselves stuck between two warring factions.
As it stands people are already growing tired of the Negan arc, and with The Whispers following I foresee people abandoning the show in droves unless there is a big change.

I liked the way the season 1 walkers were. They retained some humanity and intelligence. They should have had them start that way, then deteriorate to "zombie" status, as time passes from their death. That way the fresh kills would be more of a threat.

No need to turn into resident evil. Just need better writers/director, and stop with filler episodes. They just insult my intelligence.

I hope you are not suggesting Resident Evil garbage. That too started off with simple zombies and ballooned into some of the weirdest creatures which curiously enough were actually quite dull.

Back in season 1 some of the walkers exhibited residual familiarity. Like Morgan's wife Jenny, who kept returning to the house she died in and remembered how to turn a doorknob. When the mob of walkers was trying to get into that department store in the second episode several of them had heavy objects in their hands, and were using them to pound away at the glass. In the George Romero zombie films the dead retain some basic skills and memories; a few were even able to start their cars, although they were too uncoordinated to drive them anywhere, and at least one zombie was an ex-soldier who remembered how to return a salute. Whether you want to go the evolution of the dead route or not, having walkers hold onto rote behaviors and skills would make them more menacing.
