Just checked out another board and..."I SEE TROLLS".
Weed smoking, video game playing, living in parents basement, B-word talking TROLLS. ๐บ๐บ๐บ
I think we may need to escalate the, "REPORT, IGNORE" request. We may also need to put in a request marked "EXILE" and shoot ๐ซ them into space ๐๐ ๐ฝ like what they did to the villains ๐ตon Krypton with the clear floating disc in space.
Seems like an argument may be in the works between new comers that just arrived today.

Does the definition of troll include residence, age, and hobbies? Because I've always followed the traditional definition: trolls are people who come to message boards and say inflammatory things for the sole purpose of causing people to spin out. They don't even necessarily believe the things they say, but they want to see who they can get to jump at the bait. Some of the traditional trolls are following the Socratic method of forcing people to analyze their own beliefs, but most modern trolls are just people with little personal power in their lives who want to feel important. If you don't argue with them, they'll occasionally snipe for a while but will eventually go away.
Basement dwellers and those who wipe cheeto dust on their sweaty "log lady" Tshirts and throw dirty underwear over their bong spills are just ... basement dwellers. Obnoxious but easily ignored. They don't care if you like them or not. They love themselves enough for both of you.
The other people who often falsely get called trolls (and I'm sensy on this one because it often includes me) are people who disagree with popular opinions, and people who are willing to call idiots out on their stupidity and unwarranted egos.

Trolls for me are the people who find amusement in posting nonsense for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of people. They zap the fun out of the conversation.

Thank you! I am filled with vitriol and contempt for all types of idiots, as any old lady deserves to be, but I am NOT a troll and am constantly in search of decent conversations about movies and tv.
Can we say fuck here? I know it's not on topic and this thread doesn't call for it, but I'm curious.

I'm actually relieved. The language filters as IMDb always rankled. I graduated high school 36 years ago and don't need someone censoring me. I can censor myself just fine. Sometimes, however, one needs to use the word "shit" to make a specific point. Poo just doesn't have the same literary impact.
Plus censored boards always attract drama and mentally unstable people. I don't mind a little crazy around the edges, but I have limits to my tolerance. I'm crotchety.
