I do see a locked lock icon next to the OP title now. That is odd to lock all newcomers out instead of deleting the thread. He keeps bumping his thread. He must be wondering why those he's insulted are the only ones replying now. LOL

Probably a glitch then. Locked threads are usually read-only. Either that was the intention here, or it was supposed to be gone. You're right: it makes no sense to lock out newcomers while keeping the thread open and accepting posts for those already there.

The trolls are not the reason IMDb shut down the boards. The reasons are: 1- not enough profits; 2- Leftist Hollywood and tv celebrities felt embarassed by average people telling what they thought about them and not following their instructionss or pandering to their political leanings. They couldn't stand being insulted on a daily basis by the very people they wanted to influence with their feeling of self-importance.

So wouldn't those that you describe above consider that to be a form of trolling? Hence, at least one of their reasons for shutting down the message boards.
