So went over to IMDb and posted a few links to this site on several active threads. Lets see what happens. And... it's true... a lot and I mean a lot of the threads there are pure garbage. Sex with the dead etc.
Let's make the trolls and idiots that do come here among the good posters feel unwanted. It's nice to have a new home.

IMDB simply didn't care about their boards, as evidenced by the years of trolling that escalated and grew very much out of hand and then when they could really no longer control it...they simply shut the boards down all together. Ridiculous site.

I´m here for years and it always been a nice place. But now let´s see how this "community" handles this big update on the site... It was never ment to be a social place, but I always thought it should :P

Just came here from IMDb. I'm pretty annoyed that they are closing their message boards. Hopefully they'll crash and burn. 🔥🔥🔥

I was a member of imdb for over 10 years and watched things decline. Used to love going to whatever message board for a movie or tv show I just watched to see what everyone else's opinions were. Most of the discussions were friendly and informative even if people disagreed. I don't know what happened, but it got so ugly. Last week I checked The Walking Dead boards out of curiosity and there were like 1 or 2 threads devoted to the show. The rest were just disgusting and vile bs. Hope this site lasts for a while. Cheers!

That board was THE worst on IMDB. Not sure why they all chose to congregate there like that, but yeah...saying it was a mess is an understatement.

Trolls are easy to ignore. Easy. And when ignored, they seek more fertile soil. Telling them "you're not welcome here" is the equivalent of an engraved invitation. They'll never leave. Just don't respond at all. They crave the validation. They live for arguments. Hungry kitties.
IMDb could never have cleaned them out. It's not possible. As long as idiots take the bait they'll persist and they'll multiply. It's not up to admins to kill trolls. It's up to adults to deal with their own responses to trolls. If you can't control yourself and are compelled to reply, you're as big a problem as they are. Just ignore them. Talk over them. Who cares?
It's the whiners and idiots that are hard to ignore, and who never slink away. Ever.

Agreed! I visited many boards on IMDb for the 10yrs I was a member and I never saw the level of trolls like what existed on TWDs board. And I'm with you, I don't know why they congregated there.

The Batman v. Superman and the Game of Thrones boards were pretty bad as well.

Trolls liked to congregate on boards for shows and movies that were popular and had a dedicated fan base who would be easy to anger by ripping into their franchise. So many of them went to some boards that they practically took over, and had no one left to talk to (or about) but each other.

I remember going to a movie board once(The House of Wax?) and they had pushed out all the old messages from when the movie had came out. It was like a bunch of people had just made a mini board. It was bizarre.

What were they talking about? Not the movie, I take it.

That happened at one point during American Idol's heyday, too. There was a point that music lovers couldn't discuss the music. Someone found an obscure empty board and we posted on it for the rest of the season.
I find that as much as we are all connected to each other, many people have become almost obsessed with causing trouble with each other. Differences of opinion are attacked relentlessly.
I, for one, quit posting on the message boards and just became a reader of the message boards. I didn't care for the constant name calling, stalking, etc.
Maybe all of the trolls will find each other and leave everyone else alone.

Maybe the IMDB TWD board had so many trolls because the program is very attractive to a young audience? Don't you think most of them are adolescents? I'd really hate to think that those were adults behaving so badly. I don't mean to say that TWD can't be enjoyed at any age, I'm 61 and I've been a fan since the premier. Message boards can be a useful resource: I struggled a bit with Westworld and a lot of my questions were resolved by posters. I've already had conversations with some good minds here, and I'm happy to have found a new meeting place.

A good suggestion would be having big fat Ignore and Report buttons on the actually topic titles. That would have made IMDB easier. Maybe this site may do this. That way you don't even have to click in the topic, you can just read the title and report someone since a lot of trolls can't help but post garbage as a topic.
