I read the article [http://www.inquisitr.com/4372229/got-creator-george-r-r-martin-reveals-which-character-omission-he-argued-against/] and was very disappointed. So, was Arya merged with Lady Stoneheart in the show as the vengeful Stark? What about Aegon - merged with Jon?
IMO The writers have been giving themselves too much freedom with the source material, right from the first scene (was it really so necessary and essential to switch the roles of Gared and Will?).

The problem is that there are too many characters in the books; it's hard to even keep track without referring to the lists of Noble Houses, etc. If they were all in the show, they'd be filming forever! I think they made some really judicious cuts.

Replacing Lady Stoneheart with Arya strikes me as a great idea. A traumatized teenager is a lot more dramatic and original than a vindictive ghost.

Agree with this. The books are full of juvenile crap the show left out.
