To say the least. The quality has been dipping for a couple seasons now but I was holding out hope. This episode was like watching a children's movie. So fucking bad
I was disappointed too.
It seemed they were trudging through the snow forever!
But then I find it hard to get interested in those ice zombies and wish they'd been kept out of the plot entirely.

Are we to assume that the Whites can only attempt to breach the wall in winter or they would basically melt, certainly the Night King's crown would melt, lol. And so if they breach the wall what happens when say they win and push south, idk it seems like for White Walkers they are already in a perfect place of habitat. I believe it was said that this winter would be one of the longest winters ever recorded and that's why they're making their move now, seems like they certainly had some good strategical ideas for the dead, but do they even know what awaits them behind the wall? It seems like if they killed a raven it would come back to serve the King and fly south and do reconnaissance, can the King see through the eyes of his army the way Bran does? Yes/no?
I think there is some magic that prevents them crossing the wall. The Night King seems to have powers similar to Bran. Perhaps he foresaw the Dragons, and it was his plan all along to use a Dragon to break through the Wall. As far as I can tell, this is the only explanation that makes sense. I mean they have been marching for years at this point. Hardhome was back in season 5. They would have reached the wall a long time ago. He must have been waiting for a way to breach the wall
I couldn't agree more. There had been some "stretches" in the writing and plot up until now, but this was so far out there, it really felt like teenagers were writing it. Don't get me wrong; the action was great for the most part, but the events that led up to it, during it, and slightly after it surrounding it were really stupid.
Just my opinion, I can't believe some people are defending Hound. No matter how you slice that scene, that's what ultimately led to them attacking them outnumbered. it was so stupid to provoke them having been there that long and knowing Dany was on her way probably. And by the way, if you say that they didn't think Dany was coming, well then you have to write that into the script and have someone disbelieve that and think they are all going to die anyway, and nothing implied that.
Also, as one person mentioned, same with Uncle Ben; you have to write why he suddenly showed up out of thin air. It doesn't take that long to imply this stuff. Also, what happened to dragonglass? And after all the complaints about the Revenant, I can't believe writers haven't learned their lesson that people know you can't survive for more than a few minutes outside of ice water due to hypothermia. Especially because of the Revenant, that was like an insult too.
Other nonsense: I hated how Jon Snow almost got everyone killed by not just climbing on the dragon JUST to kill a couple of more low level zombies. And senselessly, he got left behind. That, the Hound's dumb rock throwing, Ben out of thin air, and the hypothermia overlook really were stunning as to how poor the writing was in this episode.
This was really just an awfully written episode, but the action and pacing was good.
