What an interesting group of group of characters they've got here for this mission!
The King of the North with the son of Robert Baratheon. Jorah Mormont who's the son of the man Jon Snow served under at the Wall. You've got Tormund who's got issues with Jorah. The Lords of Light pair, Beric and Thoros. You've got the Hound, who continues to grow as a charter and continues to spout great lines.
The whole idea of catching a Walk Walker seems kind of half-assed. Did anyone see them bringing anything like a cage?
The sad thing is, it seems likely that at least one or two of these characters will die on this trip. I really hope its not the Hound because I want to see them meet Arya again. It can't be Jon, he'll live.

I am pretty sure the only totally safe for sure characters are the hound and jon, the rest are expendable tbh

They're out to catch a wight, not a White Walker. It's nonsense because they don't even know they'll have more than an inanimate dead body to show if they succeed.

Don't the wights usually travel in large numbers? It reminds me of a horror movie where they say "hey what's that sound? Let's split up and investigate..."

Not always. Osha told the story of her former companion, Bruni, who came back alone as a wight to murder her. Don't worry, they'll all be fine…

Wow....that's a really good point. Whatever they capture could just "play dead" or even just actually die and Cersei could rightly just say, it's just a dead body.

Yes, the whole business is utter nonsense. Cersei and Daenerys should be asked to send sworn people they trust up north to witness the veracity of what Jon is saying. Get a couple of Unsullied, Gold Cloaks or Queensguards to see wights or whatever they can and that's enough to move further. No need to risk a bunch of heroes trying to capture one.
There is no reason for the Night King or whatever controls these things to have it play "wight" in King's Landing, quite the contrary. The writers know most viewers don't think that far.

The problem is that, whether they manage to catch a wight or not, Cersei won't give a **** - I bet she intends to kill Daenerys and her supporters/allies, and does not care about the north.

There are good reasons to think Daenerys is the greater evil anyway. The Night King only wants to clean up his side of the Wall.
