since the series started? I am trying to figure out about how long all of this has been going on - I figure Gilly's son is about 3, that's about all I can pin down.
Officially each season is a year, but there's a lot of fudging. Look at the Stark girls -- Arya should still be in the middle of her teens, and Sansa barely out of them. You could say that all the journeys that they gloss over are taking months to complete. And of course there's differences in how they mature. In season 1 Sansa was definitely younger than Danny; now Sansa acts definitely more mature than her counterpart.

According to people who have researched the time line, most conclude 3-4 years is where they are at start of season seven. They go by the book and events in it that the show followed closer until I think it was season five. Personally, I think it's more like 6 for other reasons based on the Stark girls ages and the three year difference between the book and the show of when King Robert's invasion overthrew the ruler.

3-4 years is the best estimate according to most analysis. 4 or slightly beyond would be my guess.

Thanks all! I thought, perhaps, it was a bit longer. 10 or so but 4-6 seems right.
