I believe the White Walker threat is yet another misdirection, yet another example of men starting useless wars. The whole story has been about this. Ned triggered a war because the new king wasn't the old king's son. That wasn't worth it. Renly went to war because he thought he was more lovable. That wasn't worth it. Robb went to war to rescue three people who could have been saved by yielding to demands. That wasn't worth it. Daenerys now invades a continent without any need for it, just because she wants "what is hers" and she will take it "with fire and blood", which we see her do. I fully expect the story to reveal the Night King is only defending his side of the Wall and reacts to incursions.

The Knight King was created by the Tree people to stop the evil of humanity but the Tree people lost control of the situation. So this plan of Jon's to stop the Knight King and his dead army will be lost unless Westeros becomes a peaceful territory. I don't think that will happen though unless of course somehow Dany changes her arrogant demeanor and hooks up with Jon Snow, they both get the Lannisters under control and bring peace to Westeros thereby stopping the Knight King. Or they kill the Knight King which I doubt that will happen.

It's a fantasy sci-fi story, dummy. But the show makes clear the White Walkers invade in winter, and winter is coming from episode one. It has nothing to do with starting wars. Wars in this story are as natural as breathing.

Only a moron would try to overanalyze a fantasy show about zombie-like creatures invading a land to mean more than that. The white walkers were invading simply because "winter was coming" and that's what they do. combine that with the fact that this whole story is a prophecy according to Mellisendre, or whatever her name is, and there is no meaning to any of it. At best, it might be that nature goes on even long after humans and rulers/kingdoms.

The Night King is a seer like Bran. He knew Jon was coming and it was a trap so that they could kill a dragon. At the end of next episode, the Night King uses the dragon to breach the Wall.
