There is a theory out there that Arya actually died from her stab wounds and her actions are being carried out by a faceless man. That would make sense why Nymeria turned away from her.
She turned away because 'that's not who she is'. Which is also why Arya will now annoyingly turn back and continue her foolhardy mission to Kings Landing to kill the Queen rather than meet up with her sister and brother for a sweet reunion.
At least that's how I saw it. I hope I'm wrong and she doesn't turn back.

How would the faceless man know about Nymeria let alone what she looks like. Besides, the only reason she didn't get her face eaten was because it was Arya.
How would an impersonator know Hot Pie's name, or that 'Arry was her cover name as a boy, or that Nymeria was her pet? Do they take over memories when they put on faces?

Exactly. Dumb theory._
Just for clarity's sake, my OP wasn't advocating the theory of a Faceless Man impersonating Arya, but rather that Arya is now going her way as a kind of hybrid of herself and a Faceless Man, which Jaqen H'ghar appeared to assent to in their last meeting in s06e08, summarized here:
"While pacing the atrium of the House of Black and White, Jaqen notices blood on the ground. He follows the trail to the Hall of Faces, where the trail stops at a new face on the wall, that of the Waif. Arya sneaks up behind him and points Needle at him. Jaqen does not offer resistance, and even walks into the sword's point. Though she rejects the tenets of the Faceless Men and reclaims her identity, Jaqen is pleased with her conduct by fully deeming her "no one", and allows her to leave." -- http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Jaqen
The essence of my original topic was that Nymeria sensed this was not the same Arya he knew, and perhaps also that she was now powerful enough to fend for herself. Not to say that Nymeria might turn up if Arya needs help.
Lols, no. She is totally Arya Stark of Winterfell. And she is going home. I love that they met again though. I hope it's also not the last time.
P.S. I like how you're active both here and moviechat.
We can agree to disagree, yet be agreeable, right?
Re other discussion sites, I find that there some great participants on all of them. I can't get in step with folks who always have to cement themselves to one camp in any of life's endeavors, and show contempt for all of the others until their dying breath. I like Baelish in that respect.

It goes back to the first season when Ned tells Arya that she'll grow up to be a lady, Arya replied with "No, that's not me"

This mirrors that, Nymeria isn't meant to be someones pet, hence, "that's not you". Because she is meant to be a free/wild wolf.

I have a feeling that Nymeria will lead her pack to Winterfell in the end, even if she didn't accompany Arya.

Wolves, dragons, ice zombies...what's not to love about GOT?
Also, sex.

I could do without the ice zombies. I'm sick of zombies, and I think the politics of Westeros are much more interesting. But that's just me.

I've never watched Walking Dead. As I said, I'm tired of zombies.
