My first thoughts were: A) The Lannister soldiers had bad intentions and were going to try to rape her. B) Arya was planning to kill them simply because they served House Lannister.
But it turned out these Lannisters were generally good-natured and they were ordinary men who had no interest in the political power plays of Cersei Lannister. These were men who would have preferred being back home with their families. This is the first time I can recall where Lannister men were portrayed in a positive light.
I wonder if Arya saw this as well and opted not to kill them. She may have gotten some doubts about her recent killing spree. Thoughts?

Well at first I wanted to take a shovel and hit Ed over the head.... :P But alas, I too thought they were going to rape her and she was going to kill them. "You raped her. You murdered her" :P Personally I couldn't care less about this entire shitty episode. Sam was the only redeeming factor imho. At his little montage wasn't shitty. ;-)
Winter was meant to be here a few seasons ago and it still isn't. My guess, this season will end with all houses uniting somehow to fight winter in the final season. Essentially 7 seasons of being cock teased with dragons and killer ice dead battles before maybe season 8, maybe, we'll get to see it. The only reason I'm watching will be incase another "red wedding" moment happens and the internet explodes. I couldn't care less anymore tbh.

I really liked this scene. It's one of my favorites from the episode. They were all really young too. At first I thought they were going to try and rape her especially that one with the long black hair who has a pregnant wife. Then she would kill them all. Shell probably just leave them. Her character probably really need to see this that not everyone who fights for the lannisters are all bad people.

Same here. It would have been too predictable if Ayra slaughtered them. We got a nice reminder that she's a Stark, a young woman and not just some cold-blooded killer.

And we also got to see some people just having a normal fun time & people having a normal conversation that didn't involve threats, killings, politics or the lord of light.

The episode kind of sucked. It was a filler and didn't really set up any upcoming conflicts. All that hype for season 7 premier and all we got was more of Jon Stark rallying allies for the war against the WW. Arya assassinating more of her enemies. Cersei and Jamie acting like smug bitches. And I don't know why it was necessary to glorify Dany's arrival to her home city. The set didn't look that impressive to me. Her moment was dull at best.

I have to admit that I had no idea it was Ed Sheeran until the later hype - I was more surprised to see Thomas Turgoose appearing in Game of Thrones!
I quite liked the scene, which reminded us that Arya still has a compassionate side and is more than simply a one-dimensional killing machine. Maisie Williams was absolutely the MVP of episode 1.

"My first thoughts were: A) The Lannister soldiers had bad intentions and were going to try to rape her."
I think they wanted to flirt with the cute girl and see if she would spend the night with one of them. But they were decent guys and it would have been consensual, no rape involved. On her side, Arya figured that she could take care of herself by this point.

I'm a 62-year-old American and I never heard of Ed Sheeran. I took the scene on its merits and thought the scene was a nice calm interlude after all the killing. I was more interested in seeing Jim Broadbent ( Slughorn from HARRY POTTER) as a guest star.
