I would like to point out two chilling scenes which were apparently inspired by Orwell's 1984.

First the Rat Torture in Season 2. This takes place in the climax of 1984 and the threat causes Winston to give in.

Then the notion of oblivion for the defeated:

O'Brien: Nothing will remain of you: not a name in a register, not a memory in a living brain. You will be annihilated in the past as well as the future. You will never have existed.

Sansa : "Your words will disappear. Your house will disappear. Your name will disappear. All memory of you will disappear."
