I may have missed it, but has anybody else noticed that Westeros is a mirror-image of England/Scotland/Wales, with west and east reversed? Cornwall and Wales extend towards the east, instead of the west; the former is represented as "Dorne", and the latter contains the capital, King's Landing. A slight northwestern trend in northern Britain is replaced by a northeastern trend in Westeros.
In both worlds population is greater in the east, because that is the part of the island facing another continent and receiving trade.
Presumably Westeros is also several times the size of the British island, since its climate runs all the way from the cold north to the warm Dorne.

I found discussions of the resemblance of England, of course. But none of them mentioned the east-west reversal. Instead they claim that Ireland had been turned upside down, which didn't account for Dorne/Cornwall.

I thought I read somewhere it was suppose to be about the size of North America.
