A series that started in 1988 and to this day is only around 60-70% complete with it having spanned a good anime series, a recap of movies of said first series, a shitty 2016 sequel series and a next one coming out this year with the manga seeing no end in sight because it appears to only have four chapters a year currently. The likelyhood of it ending is very low considering the low releases and current state of the story and the writer having medcial issues.
A series of novels that started in 1997 that has spanned one of the best TV Shows ever which now appear to be coming up with its own ending while fans currently wait for the release of the last two books with the possibilties of the next one being released being very high while the likelyhood of the last one is very low as the writer is a obese fat man who is likely to choke on a chicken bone or suffer a stroke or heart attack in the next 5-10 years.
I don't read the books. I read the first one, or at least two a certain point but quit. Found it boring as hell to get through. Started the Berserk Manga a few weeks back and its good. A bit overrated but good but now I gotta wait like everyone else and suffer the long ass waits while knowing deep down that Berserk is likely to never reach a proper conclusion where's Game of Thrones will at least have the show to give us some form of a ending.

If you don't read them then why do you care one way or the other?
GRRM already gave Benioff and Weiss the general idea of the story's conclusion so it shouldn't really matter to non-book readers though I would definitely say you're missing out.

Both books have been planned out for ages now... George had to give them ideas in advance.
