Why not 10 episodes? Cos usually the best episodes are 8 or 9.

You can watch teaser here!

They're preparing to wrap up. Season 8 might be the same but I don't think it's 100% certain.

Season 7, 7 episodes. Season 8, maybe 8 episodes yum

Someone posted before, forgot where I read it (or maybe youtube review) that maybe they will do a film version for the very finale. It will be nice if that happens but very unlikely lol imagine the recap for those who never watched it.

Haha they can choke!

Season 8 is 6 Episodes. As of yesterday this was officially finally confirmed as past news had suggested. 13 episodes in total left.

This is probably good cause it means the budget they'd use for those 7 other episodes can be used for these last two seasons to give us some epic battle sequences. Season 8 better be on the scale of Return of the King.

Even if the series ends, there's still lots of stories to tell. I haven't read the books, just online like during the time of Ned...though we do see some flashbacks - I'm interested to see those, that Hodor episode's like one of my faves. And the time before the Mad King like how the houses were formed etc.

Season 8 better be on the scale of Return of the King.

Yeah I'm just excited for some White Walkers battle like they're stressing about the throne, stress about the White Walkers! Hardhome episode's also one of my top fave like how it just kept on continuing and intense to watch like a real threat - the leader (Night King?)

Uhhh, this is what annoys me most about HBO (they did this with The Sopranos and Sex and the City, too). Why split up the last two seasons if it's only 13 episodes total? Why not release them all at once and say sayonara? One would think it's because they want to milk the proverbial cow, but why not just have ten episodes per season if that were the case? I know they are expensive to produce, but they've gotten by so far...

I don't read the books but yeah heard the series is like more ahead in the story. Maybe they need more material or waiting for book stories?

Well I hope the episodes are longer and great if only 6 in the final season and taking their time.

That's true. And I have to say, the series is less boring than the books. I'm not convinced that Martin will ever finish the saga.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks the books are boring. I love the show, but I have a really hard time getting through the books and I find myself wanting to skip chapters to get back to the more interesting characters. I think GRRM may have written himself into a massive writers block, and that's why it has been taking so long.

I agree.

Really? I thought A Dance with Dragons was great, and I wouldn't call the books boring since all the show's greatest ideas came from them... The Mountain, for instance, is better in the books. I'd maybe say that the sandsnakes were better too but I didn't really care for them in either format.

I also don't get how you could accuse George of writer's block when he's been giving away details to David and Daniel for the the finale. This wait isn't anything new either there was a long wait for the last two books too.

There's a difference between ideas and the actual writing. I agree with you that Martin has great ideas. I read a lot but I had to work quite hard to finish the last two books. I'm glad you enjoyed them, and with you many others, but there are more people who did find the books a bit boring.

The writer's block thing wasn't an accusation; it was just a thought. I would argue that most writers have dealt with at one point or another, so it's not a diss on GRRM at all. Giving away details doesn't mean that a writer's block has never been a factor. He's given a few snippets out of hundreds of pages of material. I am writing a book as well. I am only 140 pages in and can still give snippets to anyone who asks.

I'm sorry, but I find the books rather boring, particularly Feast for Crows. I enjoyed the first three, but it was a chore to get through the 4th and 5th. The difference between the show and the books for me is that the show highlights the most interesting characters; the books have a bunch of boring characters that aren't even featured in the show that you have to read about in massive detail. I'm not saying he's not a creative genius (he is), but the last couple of books haven't been my cup of tea.

A Feast for Crows is definitely my least favourite book.

I was only saying that it's easy for the show to cherry pick ideas whereas George has had a far more creative/interesting task in writing them so deserves far more praise despite the "baggage".
