One thing I didn't like about having Cersei murder everyone is that it really ruins the dynamic for Daenerys big invasion. With Dorne and the Reach already on her side, this isn't going to be much of a battle. King's Landing depended on the Reach for their food. Daenerys can just sit on a throne on Oldtown and starve King's Landing in to submission.

I'd of liked to have seen Daenerys invade much earlier, when Joffrey, Tywin and Stannis were still around, maybe she could have failed but escaped, returning only now. Cersei does seem outnumbered at the moment.

What is a conqueror to do, when there is nothing to be conquered?

Well she's already conquered the free cities, so it's not as if she hasn't already proven her worth.

Drogon roasting Cersei alive would be enough for me.

It will be interesting to see if Jamie stays with her to die. After he finds out what she's killed their final child and put them in a hopeless strategic position, my guess is he takes his army back to Casterly Rock and tries to make a deal with his brother, leaving his sister to her own devices.

My theory is that Cersei pulls a Mad King (moreso than she did already) and Jaime kills her........ by stabbing her through the heart with Ice. Sorry, Widow's Wail. He then joins with Jon and surrenders Ice (sorry, Widow's Wail) to Jon........ Jon now has the sword of ice, forged in the heart of its weilder's beloved, to become a the sword of fire...... bringer of light..........

I think she will take advantage of the fact the Whitewalkers are as genocidal as she is and her armies will allow them to get close enough to King's Landing that Dani is forced to fight both alongside the free north. It's called A Game of Fire and Ice so if it doesn't have dragons fighting Whitewalkers at some point then it's a poorly missed opportunity.

*A Song of Ice and Fire

But I agree.

She has no "armies" to exert influence outside King's Landing anyway. The North is completely independent. The Vale is under the control of Littlefinger. Dorne and the Reach are at war with her. The Iron Islands are in rebellion. It is unclear whether even the Westerlands are with her at this point. Kevan had probably installed his own loyalists there while he was running things and she just murdered Kevan and his son. I doubt whoever is in charge there has much sympathy for Cersei and would be unlikely to back her even if her position was strong rather than hopeless. Cersei is not Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. She is Queen of King's Landing. A glorified mayor.

THIS hahaha

Cersei certainly does seem to be in a doomed strategic position, but I do wonder, though . . .

Does she still have Dragon's Fire? If she didn't expend it all against the High Sparrow and all his little sparrows, perhaps she will use it against Dani's invasion force. I still think Cersei would lose, but she'd inflict heavy damage on the invaders, and I'd almost bet money she'd take out at least one of Dani's dragons.

She would have to have enough advanced notice of the invasion, and their intended path in order to ambush them. Given that Dany has a massive fleet and a massive army - and the forces of Dorne presumably - it's very unlikely that Cersei - even if she has enough wildfire - will be able to get enough of it in place in time......... she'd have to pretty much surround King's Landing with it, and when she does, and she ignites it, it will, in effect, doom her because she will then have cut off her escape route......

Maybe Cersei plans to take everything with her if she loses.

Which was the plan of the mad king and why her brotherlover killed him.

The problem with that is that Daenerys doesn't even have to invade. She can sit on a throne in Oldtown and starve Cersei out. Cersei is the one who will have to invade the Reach in order to secure food, but she doesn't have the men to successfully mount such an operation. Daenerys just has to wait and eventually the increasingly desperate population of King's Landing will take matters in to their own hands and deliver to Daenerys the head of their despised "Queen".

The problem with Dany laying seige to KL is that she is an impatient conquerer, not a seasoned military commander like Stannis...

she needs to invade, needs to conquer, needs to take what she claims is hers as soon as possible to satisfy her pride.

unless, of course, Tyrion can talk some sense into her.....

on the other hand.... we don't actually know how the rest of the houses in the 7K would react to a Targaryen invading. We know Dorne is with her, but who else? her invasion might just unite the rest of the 7K against her.... (with the exception of the North) and then what?
