Hardly any posts on most of the boards, not getting anymore active even nearly a week after IMDB close its boards.

Meanwhile Moviechat.org is gone already, the GOTboard has given up and is merging with IMDB2 already, and IMDB2 itself is really confusing to navigate with all the stupid sub forums.

The only solution is for IMDB to reopen its message boards.

Give it time. the other forums will slowly die out simply because they can't replace IMDB, while themoviedb can, and people will migrate here. The activity here has been increasing since I joined weeks before IMDB went down.

I agree. I joined before the other boards closed too, and these boards were much different then. It has been amazing to watch them fill up with topics. They will continue to grow and get better. We just need to hang in here and keep the conversations going.

Moviechat is gone? But that place archived boards from IMDB. Pity.

Moviechat is not gone. I am on it right now.

this

TMDB is the only real alternative for IMDB boards I've come across. It only needs more traffic, but I think real movie and tv buffs will slowly start to flock here, since it's the only real alternative for imdb when it comes to discussion of all kinds of movies and actors. Unlike all the other sites that popped up with IMDB boards demise, this one was up and running and mature well before IMDB announced their shutdown. Even more remarkable how fast they added the discussion section and how well it works. The person running this site is good.

The problem I have with imdb2 forum is that most of the trolls are posting over there and they haven't changed like most of the ones from twd board.

At least its not as hectic here. Its nice and small and we can chat and discuss things without the trolls annoying us…yet.

It's back up now. It wasn't loading when I posted this.

I still say it and this place are too similar and one will be gone before long.

I really like this site, and it's going from strength to strength. MovieChat still has heaps of the old IMDb message boards. In a perfect world, the 2 could amalgamate, and create a pretty near instant IMDb substitute.

I'm on that one too. But I like this place more. You can write reviews and contribute just like on imdb. But unfortunately the site won't allow me to submit a review. I don't know why either.

The trolls were never the problem on IMDB, just put them on ignore and you're good. And some of them are even funny. I don't mind some off topic. I think IMDB only used the trolls as an excuse to shut down the boards for economical reasons, they want people to use social media so they can make more money. The proof is that the trolling had gone down a lot the last years. TWD and GoT board were mainly on topic.

I checked out imdb2, but it's just a generic forum, dime a dozen with some sub boards anyone can set up in a day or two. TMDB (moviechat too) are something unique, in that they have boards for every entry. TMDB seems to be the one thats most well thought out of the two though.

Well too late now. And this site isn't going down the same path. Alrrady the site creator is aware of the trolls posting off topic here. Now leave me alone.

Im gonna give it more time to fill up. I like this site a nice replacement for IMDb.

moviechat.org is more active than this place, even though this site has a much better layout. I don't get it.

I think it's because MovieChat feels so familiar, because it has all our old stuff on it. It is comfortable and comforting to hang out there. But there's only message boards. No other info. These boards have been filling up fast, but it will take time to achieve what IMDb took years to achieve. In a perfect world MovieChat and TMDb would mate and produce a perfect infant that would be much better than IMDb.
