Looking forward to the new season of GoT and hoping to see more discussion here instead. Cheers.

I'm excited to find these boards and be able to share in a mutual love for GoT! Already I can tell this will be a great place to discuss one of my very favorite shows without the fear of spoilers, trolling and unnecessary drama.

It all ends in a big lukewarm puddle.

Leo, I appreciate your input, but I think G.R.R. Martin has something more sinister in store for us. I think the bittersweet ending may be Arya warging into her wolf after being mortaly wounded.

I have been questioning the nature of the "bittersweet ending" here: http://thegotboard.com/post/997/thread

A bittersweet ending is an essentially positive, happy ending with an aftertaste, possibly a strong one. It is victory at a price, survival with consequences, compromise with the undesired. It is therefore certain that the threat of the White Walkers will be removed and probable that dragons will go extinct again. War will essentially come to an end as well.

But what will the bitter part be?

Shall we see heroes sacrificing themselves, or part of themselves to make hope of a better world? Will Daenerys die, Jon turn into something funny, Tyrion finally lose his nose?

Shall we see the end of the Iron Throne and have no clear winner? Will the feudal system crumble in favour of a dumbocracy? Will Sansa find a job as a sewing worker and Arya as a cleaning lady?

Shall we, on the contrary, see the end of the idealists (Jon, Daenerys, maybe Tyrion) and a return to political strife and power struggles? Will the wheel remain in place, ready to start rolling again? This is the case where Cersei and Sansa win, by the way.

I think GRRM is out to tell us that nothing ever changes. There will be various ways of saying it but I really expect the series to make a statement like "those who don't learn from history are bound to repeat it". A naive statement itself because generations of rulers have studied and learned from history and still been left unable to prevent its repetitions. He can go for a twist and have Jon and Daenerys fail, leaving Cersei and Sansa to continue or he can have them win at such cost that they are basically left with a reboot of more of the same.

I predict Sansa will be queen, like Elizabeth I (thanks to GOT Academy on Youtube for coming with it first: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cesr8GAIjv4) and Cersei will not die. And what could be more bittersweet to most of the fandom than an almost happy ending for Cersei?

Hi leo

Oh, here you are…

I'm patiently waiting because I know that season 7 is going to be a great one. The story is just now building up to the final conflict between certain characters.

I don't mind there being off topic posts but the IMDb board was insanely riddled.
