I was preschool age when the school premiered, therefore I grew up with the reruns. I am 50/50 as a fan, one episode I thought was funny and cute was when Keith moved into the neighbor's garage apartment, because he wanted more freedom. But found out the hard way, freedom comes with a price. That was a cute scene where he hid his date in the closet when Shirley brought him dinner.
I can imagine the late Mr. Cassidy was honored generations of female fans found him cute. That is sad how he died, but reminds us to not abuse our bodies. May he RIP. Hard to believe the show is 51 years old.

Wonderful memories of the 70s. Last year was the 50th anniversary of the show. 🎵

I saw a few interviews with the surviving cast members on YT marking the anniversary. Do you have a favorite song from the show? I like a few, but an early one I never heard before is pretty. " To Be Lovers" . The studio musicians sing it. It is too bad, the show never had parody movies like the Brady Bunch.

There isn't one favourite song. As the end of the summer is approaching, I'll choose this one:
🎵 "Summer Days" 🎶

I recently got the 1st season DVD at a ljbrary. I skim though the familiar episodes and look at the ones I never saw before. One that stood out was when Shirley befriended a young girl named Cathy who fawned over Keith, and a cold brittle girl he met at a lingerie shop, where he was hiding from a group of fans. I forgot the name of the episode , but Keith put the cold mannered girl in her place. I think her name was Janet. The song in that episode was cool too.

The title was "Love At First Sight". I was shocked that the actress who played Cathy was 32. According to Wiki, she later established an arts school for inner city schoolkids. She is still around. But two other costars have passed in recent years. One was the actress that played Dora, the horrible singer, and the actress that played the runaway teen MaggIe. I think that was her name. One fan stated that David and the actress that played Dora dated back in the day. He also dated Meredith B Birney who played a rich hippie, she gave the family $1 million dollars for being kind to her. Naturally Shirley returned it. I know about him and Susan as well. David was a busy boy back in the day!

I noticed a lot of stop motion camera usage in that episode, I never saw that before.

Cathy, the girl who was in the house and made the salad, was played by Claire Wilcox. She was 15.
Lane Bradbury played Janet, the woman who wasn't interested in him. She was 32 and married.
By the way Shirley was then 36 and David 20.
Interesting.
Dora (Robyn Millan) passed away last year.
Laurie Prange (Maggie) is alive and is now (2021) 69 years old.
... Interview with Laurie Prange
He was a heartbreaker. It's a pity that Susan fell for him. 💔

I saw an Australian interview he did in 2005 I believe, he wss promoting his first book. He stated " As a friend, Susan was one of the few women he knew where he could be himself". I imagine her estrangement from the cast and him cut deeply. Laurie's sister posted on YT she had passed away. Go figure.

I read Meredith broke his heart when she married David Birney. Ironically, both are/were divorced 3X.

Thanks for clearing that up, Now it makes sense. Lane did look like a young woman versus a teen. It is too bad the show ended the way it did. They could have married Keith off and David could have made cameos since he was an adult. Or send him to grad school. Either way, the poor guy was burned out emotionally. I would taken a break myself.

I found out Robyn was the rich, nice girl Davy liked in the pilot episode of The Monkees. She also suffered from Alzheimer's. Regarding Janet, in some ways it was wrong of Keith to cancel her invitation. She sounded lime she was softening up, and might have changed her opinion. If she still had an attitude, then he could escort her home, and give her a piece of his mind. But I sorta understand his POV. He was asking his family to be phony to make a good impression. She was pretty rude to him.
