Season 1 of Butterfly Mission premiered on May 27, 2012.

The drama tells the story of a Chinese female college student who exchanges identities with her twin sister, who is a Japanese spy. At the beginning of the play, the older sister attempts to replace the younger sister and infiltrate the Chinese side. Unexpectedly, the younger sister resorts to her own tactics and pretends to stage a brilliant and exciting "spy sea plan".
