Yes they have been on here for years (lots of web series have/youtube content has) but the rules have also changed a couple years ago (I cant remember the exact year though). The guidelines around youtube web series used to be different and allowed for more of them to be on this site. The rules have since gotten stricter.
Also like I said this was apparently on a streaming platform, so maybe the mods are aware of crash course web series but theyve known that it passes the amateur content guidelines because of its release on Curiosity Stream.

are the crash course series allowed because of its availability on Curiosity Stream?

I don't recall this at all. I've been contributing here and occasionally referencing the rules for years.

If you only started in 2021 it's possible the rule change happened before then. Im not sure though. Or its possible you just didnt notice the change?
I have first hand experience with getting youtube web series allowed on this site years ago because it featured well known actors/was mentioned in media, etc. which then years later after the rule change ends up being deleted because now content must have a professional release to be allowed on the site.

This web series used to be allowed on this site, and I hada convo about that series years ago about whether it was allowed. The series was only released on YouTube but something a mod found about its production or something of that nature was professional. It was allowed back then, but years later after the rules changed I asked whether that series would still be allowed and a mod responded that it wasnt anymore and decided to delete it. Unfortunately I can no longer locate either of those discussions though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edge_of_Normal
(actually I found the convo about allowing it back in 2018: https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/5b7503899251411d91008d1f?page=1#5b7c56d392514149ed000979)
I know there are other examples but I cant be bothered trying to remember and find old threads again. but yeah thats one example.
