I invite you to read this previous content report.

thank you for the reply. I have reviewed the previous reports. The reluctance to merge the two seasons is from faulty logic. Yes Netflix has chosen to give each it's own page. However they are both part of the same show. I think you're looking at the rule "For regular series and miniseries that have sequels, we usually try to mirror the networks. Was it broadcast as the next season or as the first season of a new series? Did the sequel use the same website or have a new one?" (TV Bible). So yes using the network to justify these being separate seems logical. However, since it is an anthology I think it takes a deeper look.

Is this an anthology? Yes. Netflix renewed Monster and an anthology for two more installments. https://deadline.com/2022/11/netflix-expands-ryan-murphy-monster-franchise-renews-the-watcher-season-2-1235165592/

Is this the season two or a new series? season 2. https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/monster-season-2-menendez-brothers-1235599246/

How can we know that they didn't change this afterwards because it is labaled as one season on the Netflix website? At the World Premiere (officially the first broadcast) the show creator and show runner Ryan Murphy presented the show as the 2nd Season and announced the 3 Season for the anthology. https://deadline.com/2024/09/charlie-hunnam-monster-ed-gein-season-3-netflix-ryan-murphy-1236091311/ https://collider.com/ryan-murphy-monster-season-3-ed-gein-explained/

If we count the first broadcast as the world premiere then it will clearly answer the question "Was it broadcast as the next season or as the first season of a new series?" (TV Bible) with it is a next season. Ryan Murphy presented it as such.

Furthermore, if we hold true that this is a new season because Netflix labelled that way then why did Money Heist (La Casa de Papel) change to three seasons even though both Netflix and Antenna 3 have them listed as 5 seasons.
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/71446-la-casa-de-papel?language=en-US https://www.netflix.com/title/80192098

If Netflix wanted them to parts of a season then they could have listed them as such like they do with other productions. Yet they chose to broadcast them as independent seasons. If we stay consistent with the rules then either Money Heist is wrong and needs to be adjusted or Monster/Monsters is wrong and needs to be adjusted.

Finally, I agree that this database shouldn't be reliant on other databases. However, I believe that there is more than enough information about this show that it is easy to see that it is an additional season to another show. It is a wise for an organization to consider benchmarking to ensure they are still providing the most up-to--date information. Up to this point, I have had high regard to the accuracy of this website. For now I will monitor the response to this request. Maybe I'll be surprised and see Money Heist has been changed to reflect the original broadcast numbering.

If this contribution is well received then the following are to be updated based on the above references: DAHMER - Monster The Jeffery Dahmer Story (https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/113988) -

  • Update status from "Ended" to "Returning Series" - The article above states Netflix did renew it.
  • Change title to "Monster"
  • Change season 1 title to Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story
  • Move Monsters: The Lyle and Eric Menendez Story as the Season 2

These changes will be reflective of what the production company to include Netflix has stated about the show and how each is connected to the whole.

I hope this information is taken into account during reconsideration. The response that Netflix has the separate is quite lazy considering that Netflix and Ryan Murphy has stated it is Season 2. Maybe it 's a reason for marketing to have them split on the site. Maybe the person who uploaded it made a mistake and added it as stand alone season that I do not know. But the statements before and after it came out all state it is the second season in the Monster anthology. This isn't an emotional plea for a change but a logical one. I do hope that whoever responds to this actually considers the information or forward to someone higher to ensure this database is kept accurate.

Thank you for your time.

As indicated in our rules, the only official source in this case is the broadcaster. Netflix has release it as 2 separate series. So, we need to do the same.

Even if Netflix change later the way they are organised, our listing will not change.

Note that the original release is the first release to thee general public in the original country. A "World première" doesn't count. The same way than the festival release doesn't count to determine the year of a movie.

Money Heist was released by Netflix as 5 parts forming 3 seasons. By the way, Netflix is not the original broadcaster of this Antena 3 show.

There will be no change here.

These changes will be reflective of what the production company to include Netflix has stated about the show and how each is connected to the whole.

All our litings are based on the broadcast, not the production.
