讨论 James at 16

Looking back I can't believe my Mom let me stay up that late on a school night - it came on at 9pm! I suppose she thought it would be good for me to see what she surmised to be a positive older role model; not sure if she caught some of the parts where James "lost it" when he turned 16, or how he had a friend who sold (fake) doobies, or how the show had situations featuring alcoholism, VD, and cults. All in all it was pretty wholesome compared to most of what's on TV today. One episode dealt with James developing a crush on a girl with a bad reputation; James lured her to his home (with the family out for the night) in the hopes of getting laid; turns out, she had only put out once in her life, but word got around, and several other guys started claiming that they scored with her as well; this girl was played by a teenage Terri Nunn, who would later rise to fame as the lead singer of the band Berlin (Take my Breath Away from the Top Gun soundtrack). A couple of decades later, the WB aired Dawson's Cree, which was another "coming of age" drama featuring a blonde teenage dude living in Massachusetts, and also playing the music of the times (just like James at 15 played songs from the late 70s from James Taylor and Fleetwood Mac). Overall it was a positive show which really did center on family values.

I used to follow it, and was a fan, but now, all these many years later, must admit I don't remember anything about the series other than that Lance Kerwin (who died last week, age 62) was the star.
