Why a new season?

Why are VICE's new seasons (7 & 8) being run as a new, separate series? Because the channel has been changed? That makes little sense... then Lucifer would also have to start as season 1 after the third season because Netflix took over the series.

They can re-brand it, but why is it a separate series in TMDB?

It's different from vice 2013. Showtime picks it up in 2020, so it's technically a different "vice" series. There's several vice series out there. Was looking here to see how i need to rename stuff for kodi. But my plex software picks it up as season 7/8 is for the 2013 series. Kodi wants the folders names vice 2013 and vice 2020 to differentiate. Kind of a burden one way or another.
