Debate Hussar

Item: Гусар

Language: ru-RU

Type of Problem: Incorrect_content

Extra Details: Please lock spoken languages so that there’s only Russian. xavior keeps adding french. Even though there can be heard French during the series, according to contribution rules there must only be main languages in spoken languages. Russian is the only main language, french is used for several scenes only.

Did you even watch the series? In this series there are clearly several passages in several episodes where French is spoken, which is then overlaid with a translation. And if a language appears in several episodes, then this can also be seen as one of the main languages. @Admin's: Or what do you think?

Furthermore, you always set the series as finished, which is actually not correct, because there are several information's on the internet that the production for season 2 is already running or should actually be finished now, but due to Corona the final date has been postponed to the beginning of next year and therefore this is a recurring series and not a finished one! @Admin's: Can you maybe please lock the status so that nobody can longer change it?

There's no confirmation for season 2 and Russian series rarely have announcements about their cancellations or endings.

And yes, I did in fact watch the series. The characters speak Russian 90% of the time or so, there's no way French is one of the main languages.

There are also rarely confirmations for new season's ;-)

I completely understand your point. However, one thing is when someone speaks a different language only briefly in one episode and the other when another language appears in almost all episodes, even if only for short time. But let's see what the mod's will say about it ...

Okay, I think only moderators can resolve this case, because even when these short scenes featuring French appear in all episodes I think French doesn't qualify as one of the main languages.

OK, let's see.

Can you tell me a bit more? In which context is French spoken in the series, and why it's an important part of the series (or not)?

Hi @banana_girl,

The Hussar is a spy who infiltrates the ranks of the French during the war between the Russian Empire and the French Empire in order to spy on the French and, as far as I can remember, steal important documents and take them to his superiors. During this time he speaks French. But he also uses the French language from time to time in some episodes, since it was considered modern to speak French in the Russian Empire at the time.

I hope this helps.

Best, xavior
