The Movie Database Support

Hi, I noticed that one user removed all the backdrops I — and possibly others — had uploaded for the film The Bad Guys 2. I’d like to understand why this was done — perhaps it was because I uploaded too many? I'm not sure. Before re-uploading any of them, I’d really appreciate some clarification. Thanks in advance!

Hi

Hello! wave_tone3

In general, there is no image limit for backdrops - but they have to be in good quality.
The general rule is here:
https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/image/59f758339251416e71000065

For example - take a look at this backdrop that you uploaded:
https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/xqpwtvYoMwk2eBOfBoHW47djyyz.jpg

And now compare it to this:
https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/yGq4Eidq2SuyV2HM9GvNTbVtg0C.jpg

It's the same motif, but your image is much darker and lost colour.
And when you click on full size, you can see it's "grainy" and "pixely" (are these English words, I don't know).

I'm not an image expert at all, but I can see why another moderator removed your images.
They have to be in better quality than the one's that you uploaded.

Before re-uploading any of them, I’d really appreciate some clarification.

Please don't re-upload them again - there is a reason why they were removed.
I can keep this report open so that the image experts can have the chance to give you a full answer.

Hi, thanks for your explanation. I noticed some images uploaded by others don’t seem to have better quality than mine. Here are some examples:

My photo: https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/xqpwtvYoMwk2eBOfBoHW47djyyz.jpg

Other photos: https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/vHP2az8Ly2ZAJWGHFlux7QpAN2Q.jpg and https://image.tmdb.org/t/p/original/oWLYCo6h5PvwbGA9SxEQsBT9c8h.jpg

If you look closely, these other photos are also a bit grainy and pixelated, just like some of the images I've uploaded.

Could you please clarify the exact quality standards? I want to improve my uploads and contribute properly.

Thanks for your help!

I think this one is okay - at least for me:

I agree with you on this one - that's not good quality:

I remove the last one here:

The problem is that I am not an expert on images.
There are far more experienced users and moderators who look at hundreds of images daily and make decisions on quality.
They should give you better advice than me.

That's why I keep this report open.
When someone finds the time, she or he will add some advice for you.
I don't feel like I'm qualified enough, sorry.

Okay, don't worry! I'll try posting some more images now, but I'll edit them so they're not too grainy or anything. Thanks for the replies! Let's keep the chat open to be safe and see if anyone more knowledgeable has anything to say about this.
