The Movie Database Support

Hi everyone, I'm experiencing a significant issue where a large number of TMDB IDs are showing as deleted in Radarr within the last hour. The "Deleted" tab in Radarr is showing multiple entries indicating that TMDB IDs have been removed from the database. Is this part of a planned cleanup/maintenance by TMDB staff, or could this be a system error? The scale seems quite large for normal database maintenance. I'm trying to understand whether this is:

An automated cleanup process A temporary sync issue Something that requires action on my end

Has anyone else experienced similar mass deletions today? Thanks for any insight you can provide!

I'm wondering about this, too. I just noticed Meg White's profile has been deleted recently and I have no idea why. She has several TV and movie credits, so it doesn't make any sense.

I'm not a tech person, so I can't say anything in regards to Radarr and automated cleanups.
For what it's worth, I'm not aware of any current official maintenance that includes deletions.

But this caught my attention:

I just noticed Meg White's profile has been deleted recently and I have no idea why.

Indeed, that's alarming. As far as I can see, the former page was indeed removed:
https://www.themoviedb.org/person/106969-meg-white

At first I thought a moderator moved the credits to a different profile to merge info.
But - no - didn't happen - don't see her:
https://www.themoviedb.org/search/person?query=Meg%20White

The wayback machine has archived the now deleted page 3 times - the last time on June 12, 2025:
https://web.archive.org/web/20250612181348/https://www.themoviedb.org/person/106969-meg-white

So, between June 12 and now, this page got deleted by a moderator or during an automated cleanup gone wrong.
That's a bummer! sob

I don't know what to do about it - no tech person.

If anyone finds any other pages that might've been deleted by accident, please add them here.

Update

In general, none of the other moderators seem to know of any automated cleanup of any sort.
So we can't explain what Radarr indicated 2 days ago, sorry.

In regards to the page for Meg White, we can't tell how and why it was deleted.
It was most likely an accident.

I copied the data from the archived page to this new page for her:
https://www.themoviedb.org/person/3309213-meg-white

So, between June 12 and now, this page got deleted by a moderator or during an automated cleanup gone wrong.

To be exact Meg White went missing in TMDB daily ID exports exactly on July 9th 2025. And the exports are processed at 07:00 UTC, so it must have got deleted between July 8th 2025 07:00:00 UTC (1751967600) and July 9, 2025 07:00:00 UTC (1752054000).

Excellent work! 🔥

Wow, thank you. I contributed that profile pic, which I personally cleaned up, and also worked hard on the bio, so I appreciate that you reinstated it. (In fact I think I still have the full-size version of the headshot, if you want me to re-upload it.)

Yes please!

I could only find the copy on the page that's still on Letterboxd here:
https://letterboxd.com/actor/meg-white-4/

i am also facing same issues with some short films. when i click link to TMDB it says can't find page... it is so weird. should I add them back or wait for updates?

Can you give us the link(s) that you click?
There's a chance that we deleted the entries because these entries were not allowed.

Please don't add them again before we don't know which short films are missing.

Yeah, I have run into this issue with some of the Huluween shorts and even episodes of Masters of Horror, which are basically short films that aired on cable. It's frustrating when some get deleted but some don't.

I can't say anything about Huluween shorts, but Masters of Horror belongs in the tv section:
https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/3470-masters-of-horror

It belongs in the tv section because it is an anthology series.
As such, the episodes "were a long-standing exception" here on TMDb:
https://www.themoviedb.org/talk/5af9a07992514139b9009574

It's frustrating when some get deleted but some don't.

With establishing the contribution bible a few years ago, we made a change to this exception:
"Some content is allowed to exist in both the TV and the movie database. [...] Episodes of an anthology series that are treated like TV movies (e.g. individual DVD release, theatrical release)."
https://www.themoviedb.org/bible/new_content/59f792cd9251413e93000004#59f7933c9251413e9300000a

Based on this rule, we keep some of the episodes in the movie section.
But we also delete some of them - when they are not released separately.
It depends on the release.

By the way, did you find the "full-size version of the headshot" of Meg White for her profile page?
If you find it, can you please add it?

What a gigantic mess.

Deer Woman is one of the ones that was deleted at some point, but that absolutely had a home release.

I personally consider MOH to be more of a TV show as well, but many do consider them to be short films or TV movies. It's a weird sort of hybrid, and unlike a standard TV show, the episodes are of varying lengths.

As for the Huluween shorts, I assume some got deleted because they were on Hulu/YouTube, but many, if not all of them, also had theatrical screenings. I know I saw quite a few at Beyond Fest in Hollywood. I'm not entirely sure which ones got theatrical screenings and which didn't, though. All I know is that 13 of my Letterboxd reviews got deleted. :-/

Not yet. Still trying to find where I put it.

Indeed...

This was actually removed at least 2 times in the past.

Unfortunately, it seems that not all moderators are on the same page about this rule.
The big problem is to find a solution everyone agrees on, and that's easy to understand for all users.
I don't want to write more about this, because that's still an unsolved internal discussion.
Honestly, I'm not sure when this will be resolved?

Maybe they got deleted because they were originally on YouTube?
I can't say right now.

Okay. It would be great if you could find it! smiley_cat
