The Movie Database Support

Hello, I am trying to use this API to find movies that are or have been popular in a country, and I am finding varying levels of success, but not often. Is there a way to do this that I am overlooking? Right now, I am using /discover and country_codes "US" or "CA" with language_code "en."

The filter for films shown in a country is region.
I don't know if the region parameter returns the popularity index of this parameter only.
I believe it returns films that were shown in this region but with worldwide popularity.

To filter films shown in a specific country use &region=.
To filter by country of origin use &with_origin_country=
And to filter by language use &with_original_language=.
Example with BR and pt:

https://api.themoviedb.org/3/discover/movie?api_key=THE_KEY&language=en-US&region=BR&sort_by=popularity.desc&with_origin_country=BR&with_original_language=pt
