Hello,
both, movies and TV shows have a production_countries attribute. But only TV have a origin_country attribute? I don't understand the point of this. How can I get the origin_country of a movie? And what's exactly the difference between production_countries and origin_country?
Regards,
Piotr

Movie received the "Origin Country" field about 8 months ago.
It's on the first edition page, next to "Original Movie Language".
Discover has the "with_origin_country" filter for movie and tv.
Better to give a hypothetical example.
Imagine a documentary whose idea is from a famous Lebanese director.
He owns a production company in Lebanon but has no money.
He writes the script and goes in search of money to make it.
Gets funding from the French cinematheque.
And virgin negative from the Italian cinematheque.
He films everything in Lebanon, with Lebanese actors.
Everything spoken in Lebanese.
It develops the negative in Germany and does post-production in Austria.
I would say:
Original Movie Language: Lebanese
Origin Country: Lebanon
Production Countries: Lebanon, France, Italy, Germany, Austria.
Some consider the country of origin to be the country of whoever paid/financed the film.
Others consider that the country of origin is the country of whoever created/had the idea/artistically realized the film.
What should prevail?
The idea or the money?
Is the film the result of money or culture?
:-)

The definition of the origin_country for the series is here.
The exact definition for movies is not yet in the Bible, but it is similar.

The rules for movies may not be the same as for TV.
And even on TV there probably must be exceptions.
In the case of films, there was a recent film, I don't remember well, maybe Dunkirk, which had a premiere in Korea.
It caused some confusion.
Anyway, sometimes for market reasons, producers decide to make their debut in another country.

The rule for movies has been given by Travis here in its second message. This is similar.
