Avif is coming to dominate all the internet with new image codec, smaller than jpg format. BUT, I would like you guys add the WebP format because is practically supported with all popular browsers. If where images are hosted is a linux/windows dedicated server you can use FFmpeg to convert all images with a simple loop. https://caniuse.com/?search=webp https://caniuse.com/?search=avif

Hi @megacinefilmes, thanks for stopping by.
We may look at introducing more formats in the future but there are no immediate plans to do this.

@travisbell is there an update on this? I would love having webp as an option when using large backdrops.

Hello, I allow myself a little up here, I would also like to be able to load images in webp format, for my part I use backdrops and not posters for the moment. Thank you very much for this awesome API.

@travisbell Perhaps take advantage of Bunny's auto-optimization, since the files are being served from there already? https://support.bunny.net/hc/en-us/articles/360020557500-Understanding-the-Bunny-Optimizer
"The Bunny Optimizer is a tool that can be used in conjunction with our CDN offering to automatically minify, compress and ultimately optimize your static files on the fly. Bunny Optimizer will dynamically convert and serve images into WebP format, automatically optimize your images for desktop and mobile devices, automatically minify CSS and JavaScript files and allow on the fly image manipulation such as resizing, cropping and color correction using query parameters.

I'd love to see avif or at least webp option too, as support is quite good nowadays :)
