There is no such field at this time. I have an open ticket for this here.

FYI--The person method now includes a
known_for_department
which you can use to know what department to build a persons "known for" data with.Απάντηση από τον/την Kenny Ali

Hey there, Mr.
I'm pretty sure that I saw that field months ago (I think), where you can see some other movies from the actor, but can't find it right now. It appears on the main web tho. It is available in the API right?

Person search results contain a
known_for
array (limited to 3 items), but other than that, you would need to build this data yourself. You can do that by checking theknown_for_department
field and then iterating over the persons credits.Απάντηση από τον/την Kenny Ali

You're right. Excellent! Thank you for the quick response. Have a good one.

Hi @travisbell , sorry for unearthing an old thread. Your answer from above has been quite helpful. I saw an older one were you also mentioned that known for result were sorted by descending rating count. Currently, the known for info on TMDB seems more accurate than what I can get with this technique. Would you have any guidance on how to achieve something close?

Hi @Romain_lfb, it's true that the logic around how we calculate the known for items changed a while back.
I'm not sure the current method is achievable with the data provided by the API so I just created a new ticket to think about adding the field to the API.

Thanks @travisbell . I noticed you've got an
order
property being returned at the moment but many of the items have the same order index. Could this be enhanced to give a granular order of most know for to least? Just an idea. Keep up the good work!Απάντηση από τον/την Shahood Ul Hassan

That
order
property represents the order of that particular actor in the overall cast. So, if an actor has played the lead role in all of the movies he is known for, the order for all would be 0.Απάντηση από τον/την prateek.somaiya

@travisbell I am looking for the exact same thing... is there a recommended workaround to get this done? For now I am doing this:

I think we still have problems here. The 'known_for' array associated with a person includes results there are really NOT known for...
For example, when i search Rik Mayall the most popular movie he is 'known for' according to the array is 'An american werewold in london' in which he played '2nd chess player' listed 8th in order of movie credits. This is a very minor role.
Is the intent that the known_for array would only include credits where the person is in the lead role? i.e order = 0? If so it seems to be broken in this instance.

+1 to having a
known_for
in/person/{id}
, please.I'm able to fake it in a passable way by looking at order & popularity, but it's far from great. Something that was more curated would be lovely, rather than trying to back into it by hand.
