I'm not 100% what you're asking. Kodi ships with an API key, so you don't need to get one unless you are doing something independently on your own. Can you clarify why you're looking for an API key?

I have an application called kodi. There I watch movies. Lately, the search function in the app does not work. Someone told me that to to fix it, I need an API address from this site. However, more recently, I realized of the existence of a TMDB addon, which I downloaded. It looks like the search function is fixed. Anyways, I am wondering to know what are the benefits of having an API keys. Can I have access to more movies?

As a regular end user, there won't be anything extra you can do. It's a developer feature.

It must not. Downloaded kodi on my phone and xbox1s from 2 dif sources and same prob. When i clicked on upnp to play movie nothing. After 4x dowload 20hrs of settimgs change remembered that dam api key

As already indicated, you don't need a TMDB API key to use Kodi. A TMDB API key is already embedded in it.

OMDB has nothing to do with TMDB.

I downloaded kodi first on xbox1 then on my phone from google store. On both devices when i clicked on movie to watch and when i click on the upnp that pops up nothing happens pops up again nothin. I assumed it needed api key since i went tbru every settimg there was. And for it to happen on 2 dif devices from 2 sources. Omega on the xbox. I can c latest movies so its database but cannot. Im very sorry to bother but i really enjoy tmdb is why i put effort and could use lil advice thank u for the time

1. There are no TMDB API key needed to use Kodi. They have their own API key embedded in the software.
2. TMDB doesn't provide any movies or series to watch. This is only a database of metadata.

Any idea what would cause the movie not to play on 2 dif devices ? The only thing i could think of was the key

As already indicated, you need to contact the support team of Kodi. You will have no help here.
