Is this something that will be added in the future? My reason for this request, is that when using the search API I format the results into a list and include the imdb link with TheMovieDB link, to do this i am having to call /search/movie and then /movie/{movie_id} to get the imdb, this means for each item returned in /search/movie there will always be another API call, more traffic for you and slower searching for my users :(

No plans right now, no. One of the things that might get introduced in v4 is the ability to build custom responses. It should be noted however that work on v4 is low-ish priority but the wheels are starting to turn about what could be done in the new version.
