API calls that include "&" in movie title fail and return wrong movie

Our App uses the TMDB API to retrieve movie meta data and if a title includes an & the call fails to find the correct movie and instead cuts the title just before the &. An example is the Love & Friendship. It is pulling back the movie Love and causing lots of trouble in our movie chain. This happened last year when we were playing Love & Mercy. Same title pulls into our App. Please advise.
