Content Formatting

Not sure if it is me or by design but when I add content, say a biography for a person after it has saved it does not honour any formatting. When I refresh the page it just looks like one large block of text.
How can I ensure it understands a newline and/or paragraphs?

If you enter twice, it gets a new paragraph. At least that's the case with show / season / episode overviews :)
Think that might be the same for biographies.
