The Movie Database Support

Travis;

I just rescaped all my changes using the analysis of Orig Lang = en, Spoken Lang = es (for a one count Only) , Production Cntry = MX. There were several hundreds records involved and numerous hours of my time . Those with English overviews were changed, those with Spanish in the English Overviews were not. I now have to redo some 171 records that meet this analysis criteria. Which BTW does no include all my other similar analysis scenarios. I see that some records do not have Spanish translation containers (nor auto creates the Spanish container) so to change the Spanish overview to English to facilitate changing the original language I must destroy any Spanish overview!

Hi Joe,

What is it exactly you're trying to match/translate? I am confused by what you're asking about here.

Travis;

My application analysis gets me a list of orig langs which most likely require fixing (most I am finding) I can hot link from these to your edit web form (Primary Facts). I attempting to change JUST the Org Lang for some movies I was running into situations where the user had put Spanish in the English overview which tripped and error, Not so bad all-in-all but now I was forced to replace the Spanish with the English and in the process destroyed the Spanish if that translation container did not exist and contain the Spanish Translation already.. just to change the Orig Lang. I have posted my thoughts on the subject in this forum for you review and consideration and comments.

Got it.

Ya, this is currently by design. For the first ~3 years we didn't validate (or try to at least) the content being entered in the overview. We had lots and lots of people putting incorrect text so validating the overview was added. Since we only validate new text though, all of the content entered before this (sometime in 2012) was left in place. Obviously if someone comes by 3 years later, well, you'll be faced with the validation error.

There's no value in having a Spanish overview in the English translation so I wouldn't be to worried about deleting it. Before deleting it though, you could check the Spanish translation to see if it has been correctly entered (most of the time they will be, it's just duplicated). Obviously if it's empty, copying and pasting from English to Spanish is pretty easy to do at that point.

Ok

I featured something out. I can go to the movie's "Changes Log" to get the "lost" Spanish (in this case) and copy-paste it into it's correct container. No Problem!
