Apparently Google has changed their policies and now they ask for proof of permission to use graphics on screenshots and other places ahead of approving an app submission. Anyways, what do I need from TheMovieDB in order to show that I am authorized to use your API?
Thank you.

Hi,
We've never provided anything custom for anyone but I have read about this before. You can see another thread about this here:

Interesting. Well I'll keep this in mind if they reject me, I was just trying to get all my ducks in a row before submitting the app.
By the way, is there a way to confirm that you guys have my api key as being used by a commercial app?
Thank you.

Hi casolorz,
Yes, we have it marked as commercial Keep in mind, there is no difference between a developer or a commercial key except for the way that we internally track the keys.
Cheers.

Hi, I had problems with Google 2 weeks ago as well. Wrote about 10 Mails until they finally accepted it. I didn't really proof anything, I just told them that I have a valid Tmdb-Key, and explained that there are several other apps that use images from the same source. I also argued that I use the images in a promotional context.
Don't know what changed their mind at the end, but my App is online again and I don't get any warnings anymore.

I finally got around to submitting my app to Google and it was instantly rejected because of the screenshots showing images of TV shows. I appealed with a screenshot of my api key page with the api key partially showing and they replied pretty quickly asking for proof. I think that reply totally ignored what I sent so I think I will send it again but figured I would let you guys know as I navigate the process.

Were you successful? My App got removed again several days ago. I wrote about 10 E-Mails, they just won't reinstate it... I gave up now, and just accept that hundreds of working hours are wasted. But what's the point? I just don't get it. Why are there hundreds of apps in the store using the same images, and only a few get removed?
There is no good reason, but that dumbass Google support just sends the same prewritten answers over and over again...

No I was not, I just resubmitted my app without the images on the screenshots. Google would never answer whether it was because they didn't accept my proof or because they don't accet themoviedb.org as a source.
Actually supposedly they have actual people go through the images and they are making them go through new apps first and I'm guessing old apps slowly.

Mine was online for about 9 months, and never had problems with Google. Anyway, good luck ;)

Did they suspend it permanently or are you able to update screenshots and resubmit? mine was a different deal because it was the first submission. I didn't push it on arguing with Google because I have another app and didn't want to get banned.

Now it's permanent. "If your account is still in good standing and the nature of your app allows for republishing you may consider releasing a new, policy compliant version of your app to Google Play under a new package name."
But that's not an option, I don't waste any more time on this, just to get it removed afterwards.
I'll look for something different...

Actually my email had the exact same wording about republishing under a different package name but I was just able to update the screenshots and resubmit. Like I said this was the first time that app was published so maybe that was the reason. I would say as long as the buttons are enabled you can probably do it. I didn't put a single image that they could think is copyrighted.
