Does this mean we cannot store the metadata and/or images? or we can but have to recall the API after some specific time? Wouldn't it put extra burden on servers if you call again and again.

No, it does not mean that. We encourage you to cache the data, the catch here is that you're acknowledging that you never own the data. If you're wondering what do we consider is reasonable? Well, there's no firm rule. A few weeks, a month. Typically whatever makes the most sense for the app you're building.
