Hey! I am a student who is developing a project where we need to access information about movies and I have no clue on where to start using this. Is there some kind of dummy guide that might help? Do i need to download a library for it to work or how does it work? Thankful for any help on where to begin to understand how to use the api! Thanks

Not specifically, but all our API is, is a fairly standard JSON web service. So any REST or JSON guides you can find would be generally applicable.
Again no, not necessarily, but there are a number of libraries that users have contributed that can greatly speed building your project. The list of available libraries languages and libraries is here.
