Why does http://api.themoviedb.org/3/discover/movie?api_key=###&sort_by=popularity.desc&release_date.gte=2014-06-01 return results not properly ordered by popularity and results releases before 2014-06-01?

Hey iansilber,
I’m seeing everything being sorted in the proper order but I’m betting your question about the release date is because we search every release date entered in a movie and not just the primary release date. X-Men is a good example, it has a few release dates > June 1 even though in the U.S. it was released on May 23.
There’s 2 related tickets to this, one for supporting filtering by primary release date as well as another to support specifying a country to search for (with a release date) so you can get per country lists.

Hi @iansilber Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I thought I'd let you know that filtering by region and release type has been pushed live. You can read more about this on the blog.
