Hi Travis,
Wondered whether we could add the following jobs :
Carpenter
Casting Associate
Hair Department Head
Thx

You can request missing crew jobs in this topic. The new crew jobs have to be English and free of spelling mistakes. Please specify in which of the following departments each new job should be created: Directing, Writing, Editing, Camera, Production, Art, Costume & Make-Up, Visual Effects, Sound, Lighting, or Crew.
Kindly try to avoid making duplicates job requests (search the last few pages), or requesting crew jobs that are already added to TMDb.

@travisbell I noticed that instead of just Costume Design, we now also have Costume Designer. Intended or no?

I think those are jobs, definitely don't deserve a department. What's wrong with their current one?
I don't think it's necessary to split Costume & Make-up. Why bother. It's related anyhow. I have a bigger issue with Fantasy & SCi-fi or Action & Adventure being combined as genres.

There are two "ADR Editor" jobs as well. A full list of current jobs could be needed to see if any other duplicates got into the mix.
I agree that the current job department setup is just fine.

No, that's a mistake and should be deleted! I suggested this in August 2017, but then Travis had this idea of adding alternative names to jobs and I got rid of those alternatives. Looks like "Costume Designer" slipped through ...
On the other hand: I'm not sure Travis is able to go forward with his idea. He wrote:
"Something I can do to the jobs list is add alternative names. And at this point I can probably even add a little tool for mods to add them. No one really talked about this being a problem until only very recently 😉 So, if that helps when you are talking about jobs in the sense of the ones that can go by multiple names, choose a primary name and feel free to keep track of alts too. We can use those."
I'm not entirely sure how this will ever work now that we have all jobs in translations?!? Is that even possible now?

Yes, that was an old job and a new suggestion -> that also slipped through and should be deleted.

I count 936 in the full list. But I did a hack job -> maybe there's some tiny mistakes ...

A few other things that I spotted (mistakes mostly made by me ...):
typo: "Locale Casting Director" in PRODUCTION -> change to "Local Casting Director"
typo and wrong: "Genetator Operator" in LIGHTING -> this also exists correct as "Generator Operator" in CREW -> I'm not sure in which category it belongs, but it's a duplicate and 1 should go
wrong: "Writers' Production" in WRITING was accidentally cut -> change to "Writers' Production Assistant"
merge: "Prop maker" and "Propmaker" should be merged -> duplicate
delete: "Production Designer" in PRODUCTION -> it belongs into ART, and there we already have "Production Design", which is the same
fixing: "VFX" vs. "Visual Effects" should be fixed into 1 version -> I wrote about this here and looking at the list now:
1.) Move "Executive Visual Effects Producer", "Visual Effects Art Director", "Visual Effects Design Consultant" and "Visual Effects Editor" from CREW to VISUAL EFFECTS
2.) Rename all 6 "VFX ....." into "Visual Effects ..."
3.) Merge duplicates "... Supervisor" and "... Editor"
I think there are many more, but my brain doesn't function anymore.

At first I thought it was a bug, but I think it's just jobs that weren't translated. I think it's bad because it leads to literal translations while the English term is the one we use in the Netherlands, or there just isn't a translation..
I know I removed some wrong translations because they were just literal translations. "Bewerker" for Editor, while Editor is perfectly fine term in the Dutch film industry. I just don't know if I blanked them out, or wrote the original English crew job anymore.

Hmm... they should always default to the English value... what movie is that? (easier to ask and go straight to the one you're looking at than to go digging...)

Question: Is the crew job "principle costumer" the same as "principal costumer"?

All 3 names are credited in all 5 episodes of season 2 so far. Jessica Dalager and Lorie Stone are both credited as "Set Costumer" on IMDb at the moment, while Mustapha Mimis is not credited so far. I think they are. People often confuse principle and principal.

There were 3 other crew jobs that I was struggling with yesterday:
1.) We have the job descriptions "Special Effects Makeup Artist" and "Special Effects Key Makeup Artist" as crew job labels.
For Westworld, there are a few credits that read like this:
I think our job labels are jumbled up, because those people are experts for "special makeup effects" -> the order of words is important, in my opinion. I think we should change our labels to:
"Key Special Makeup Effects Artist"
"Special Makeup Effects Artist"
On the other hand, IMDb also uses both forms for this job -> it looks like it isn't clearly defined.
2.) I have a credit in the post production section of the end titles that only reads "Recordist" (screenshot). We don't have this job, but we have "Sound Recordist". Can I use this instead, the same way we use "Sound Re-Recording Mixer" for "Re-Recording Mixer"?
3.) This made me laugh a bit: We have an "Accounting Clerk Assistant", but we don't have an "Accounting Clerk" at the moment!
