Hi Travis,

Wondered whether we could add the following jobs :

Carpenter

Casting Associate

Hair Department Head

Thx

Mod edit:

You can request missing crew jobs in this topic. The new crew jobs have to be English and free of spelling mistakes. Please specify in which of the following departments each new job should be created: Directing, Writing, Editing, Camera, Production, Art, Costume & Make-Up, Visual Effects, Sound, Lighting, or Crew.

Kindly try to avoid making duplicates job requests (search the last few pages), or requesting crew jobs that are already added to TMDb.

Do you have a link explaining Production Designer as a producer credit? I have only ever heard about production designer as an art department job.

I don't, but I could rustle up some examples where that specific term is used, and it's obvious from the credited person's past filmography and credits that they're a producer and not an art person.

No need. I trust you. snail I'll amend my original post regarding this.

We have Production Design for that credit and it has worked fine for 10 years. Sorry, if I was unclear. Sometimes the same job can exist with many different minor spelling variations. A notable example: re-recording mixer, sound re-recording mixer, sound re recording mixer, re recording mixer, sound re-recording mixing, re-recording mixing etc. I don't think it makes it easier for users if we carry all variations (unless it was somehow possible to add them as alternative names, but I guess that is too complicated). neutral_face

Would it in some way be possible to make all the words in a job be searchable? So if you type "mixer", "sound re-recording mixer" also shows up, and so on? As it is with cast & crew names?

We have Matchmove supervisor, but not Matchmove Artist. Should be added to the visual effects category.

Then, I don't know, but shouldn't the visual effects category be cleaned up? Things should probably be called "VFX something" or "Visual effects something". Now there are both which makes it hard to find.

So this is the "big job topic?
"Story Artist" is Animation Department/Art? dept, not writing

Currently, both Original Character Designer and Character Designer roles are all fudged together as just "Character Designer".

They are actually two distinct roles: an Original Character Designer draws the original concept designs for the characters; the Character Designer then has the more technical role of turning those concept designs into model sheets and checking layout drawings before they are animated, to ensure that the characters are on model. Very often the same person is credited as both Character Designer and Supervising Animator, but not always.

The two are frequently found in Japanese animated productions which are original or based on a novel that's not illustrated throughout, so, unlike a comic, which already has designs for the Character Designer to adapt into model sheets, they need someone to create the characters so that the Character Designer has something to work from.

There are several ways that the Japanese キャラクター原案 has been translated, but Original Character Designer looks to me to be the simplest and most direct to the point of those that are used often.

So I am, therefore, requesting the adding of Original Character Designer to the VISUAL EFFECTS department (as that is where Character Designer is currently located).

Hey guys,

I think we need to add "Television Director".

Would you please take care of this? Or suggest an alternative? (I searched in all 936 crew list positions).

Thanks.

Is it not Director? In a lot of cases it is the the same people? What would be the reason? If we add director to tv can we not assume tv director?
Same with adding alt title in the comment field of alt title? Or adding french to comment of alt french title?

Hey, @DaMan Are you talking to me? I just wondering it can be more accurate.

@banana_girl There is no problem if we are adding TV Director, As a director?

So then you want to delete Director all together?
Add Movie Director
MiniSeries Director
Documentary Director?
...
Movie Actor
TV Actor
Movie Producer
TV Producer
...
Confused...
Again why?
Did not Banana change handles?

No. I just asking to be sure about this because I presume they might be separated from DIRECTOR, in the series.

There is already a 'Series Director', for what it's worth.

Do not understand that at all, sorry.
Just my 2 cents, will leave this to mods and TB.
Good luck.
