Main page search box is strange

Hello,
Not sure if this meant to happen but when you click on the search box the nice white box disappears.
Not sure if this is intended or a mess up on CSS just wanted to raise it with you

I'm not sure if I follow. I don't see any weird behaviour happening with any of our search boxes… can you elaborate?

I can't seem to reproduce that. I've tried every browser I have, Safari, Firefox, Chrome and IE.
Can you try forcing a hard refresh?
shift-refreshusually does it in Chrome—simply hitting refresh is not enough.
