are there examples of how to use the api in a c++ or c program.

Hi heiner68,
Every example on Apiary has a drop down where you can select your language of choice and be given examples. There is an option for C#, but none for C++.
Other than those, the only other options would be potentially those found with some of our community provided libraries: https://www.themoviedb.org/documentation/api/wrappers-libraries
