New to API and XMBC, need assistance

Hi I'm new to this api and xmbc. Where do I start with getting onto the right track in using the apps and api. Some assistance would be appreciated if someone would explain how to get started.

Hi superflye777,
Please excuse the potentially obvious question but are you a programmer? As a regular consumer, there is nothing you need to do with regards to the API in order to use XBMC. If you are a programmer, or are at least wanting to get your hands dirty, what are you hoping to accomplish?

Many thanks for getting back. Well Travis, I'm not a programmer but I am however fascinated by what programmers do. Most of what I know come from friends in the industry and that have got me hooked onto computors and the variety of things that can be done. (still in the crawling phase) but wanting to know more. y main aim is to program and understand it, but for now I think it would be best just to stick with the basics and then move forward. So..... how would one use the app and what is its capabilities?
