The Movie Database Support

Hi,

I'm thinking of using your API for an app idea and it sounds great. I was looking more into it because I saw the Movie.browse method on the version 2.1 and it's kind of a feature I need. I discover that the method doesn't exist yet in v3 and is not planned at the moment : http://tmdb.lighthouseapp.com/projects/83077/tickets/87-via-tender-api-v3-browse-feature-request

My question is simple, is there any plan to have this feature on API v3 ?

Or what is the best other way to obtain a list of movie by genre, countries, years, actors, etc ?

Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure if it's possible to get movies by country or year, but it's definitely possible to get it by genre and actors using v3 of the API.

Hey John,

There is indeed the plan (that's what the ticket is for) but what I don't have is any kind of ETA. The reason this wasn't ported over on v3 from day 1 is because the design behind it on 2.1 is not very good and trying to make it bend to the new infrastructure would be a mistake.

You can watch that ticket to be notified for updates if you want. We've been in the process of doing a lot of infrastructure upgrades and it's all a step in the right direction for me to seriously consider the v3 browse method.

@Michell : Thanks for the tips, I saw that on the API indeed.

@Travis : Thanks for the answer. Do you have any other idea how I could return movies without specific research life all french movies ? I assume is not possible at the moment without the browse method like you mention.

Is there any way to retrieve the database or embedded into my app to implement myself such a method ?

Basically my app idea is based on that and without this kind of access to the API, my concept is not good to develop.

Thanks again for your help. John
